  • Effective altruism is attempting to form a social or political movement. Its spokesman, Peter Singer, has dropped his initial philosophic argument about the duty to give until you are as impoverished as those you could help in favor of a more popular and less strenuous requirement simply to give effectively.
    • It also seeks to have direct affects on the material and political world by supporting certain NGOs and charities over others, understanding that this choice will have ramifications on political and economic development.
  • Democracy does not have any inherent value in effective altruism, which follows technocratic laws to maximize a conception of good based around human life.
